Why the Conservatives?
At a national level, it is clear that time has come for the Government to change. This is a Labour administration that has run out of ideas, run out of time, run out of energy and run out of money.
All Labour Governments end in financial disaster in the end and this one is no different. It is always the Conservatives who have to come in to put the country back on an even footing again.
Of course this means that, for the near term at least, the economy will have to be the focus of Government. Re-balancing the books when there is over £30,000 owed for every man, woman and child in the country isn't something that will happen overnight.
Necessarily this means that some of the ideas the party wants to implement will have to wait but some can still be brought forward quickly.
For more information on our policy programme see the party website's pages on our three areas of concentration of Advancing Opportunity, Nurturing Responsibility and Protecting Security.
The main policy pages can be found here.
At a local level, Conservatives have a great record of success. Hampshire County Council has just been given the top rating of 4 stars by Government inspectors for the 7th year in a row. Not only were it's services found to be outstanding, it was also found to be improving strongly.
And all this despite getting the lowest level of Government grant of any Shire county at the same time as having the lowest council tax of any county.
All the local councils namely Havant Borough Council, East Hampshire District Council and Winchester City Council are Conservative run, have low levels of council tax and highly rated services.
If you want excellent local services and some of the lowest levels of Council tax in the country, the message is clear. Voting for your local Conservative seems like a sensible move.
